We are a non competing Street/Concert Band dedicated to teaching piping, drumming and highland dancing. Several members in the band successfully compete in solo competitions, and some are also part of competition bands outside of Sudbury.

We enjoy supporting our community by offering excellent musicianship at parades, ceremonies and functions, and in particular for our local Legions.

Who We Are

Sudbury & District Pipes and Drums is a non-competitive street and concert band.

The band was formed in 1922 and has since seen pipe majors such as Bill Livingstone Sr, Ted Gibbons, John Ross, Charlie Kennedy, and Carrie "Redhaired Piper" MacDonald.

The current Pipe Major is Steve Harper assisted by Pipe Sergeant Dan Chisholm and Pipe Corporals Dan Moss and John Leonard.

The band currently wears the Dress MacKenzie Tartan.

Practice Location

SDPB beginner and marching band now practices Wednesdays at the Polish Combatant's Hall, 291 Albinson St. in Sudbury, Ontario from 6:00PM-9:00PM and the concert band practices on Sundays from 7:00PM-9:00PM.

Beginners are always welcome!
